London-based designer Bethany Williams has presented her SS21 collection in partnership with the ethos of the Magpie Project, an organisation that works with children and mothers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Labelled, ‘All Our Children’, the unisex collection is inspired by the importance of family spirit in a child’s life. Stars of the campaign include families that are part of the Project and illustrator Melissa Kitty Jarram, who has transformed children’s drawings into prints and patterns that became part of the final textiles.
Efforts of sustainability include the use of deadstock, organic and recycled materials, as well as deadstock jersey and nylon garments provided by Adidas Originals. There are two different corset designs which have been made using fruit packaging waste.
Further pieces from the collection include the introduction of a kidswear line, matching adult and children’s protective face coverings and two bags — designed by leather goods designer, Steven Saville.
