Familiarity Permeates Helmut Lang’s Spring/Summer 2022 Collection

Helmut Lang’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection – inspired by themes of familiarity and novelty – epitomizes New York Fashion Week’s spirit of unity and collaboration. 

An art installation by South Korean creative Maia Ruth Lee accompanied the collection, which was characterised by utilitarian details like rope and mesh. Embracing the spring season, pictures of sails and buoys were included in the collection, which paired well with Lee’s artfully crafted work inspired by luggage at the airport, created from materials salvaged from the design studio. 

From a mustard yellow dress to multi-pocketed trousers, the functional-infused pieces can be seen below.
