British fashion designer Gareth Pugh has unveiled his visual project titled ‘The Reconstruction‘. Building on the designer’s first collection, the feature-length fashion documentary marks the designers return to fashion week.
Featuring 13 iconic looks inspired by 13 iconic songs, the collection will feature a series of prints designed by Pughs and designer Melissa Mehrtens. None of the looks will be for sale: instead, they have been re-imagined via a jersey capsule collection and will launch alongside the art project’s release.
Talents for the designer’s visual album include Rina Sawayama and IAMDDB; activist Sakeema Crook; The Royal Ballet’s principal dancer Matthew Ball; performer Jenny Bastet; Dancers Travis Clausen-Knight and James Pett; nightlife icons Finn Love and Georgie Bee; and model’s Jade o’Belle and Georgia Moot.
Shot by renowned photographer, Nick Knight, the project also includes fashion documentary written by Pugh’s husband and Creative Co-Director Carson McColl. The documentary will be unveiled via YouTube at 5:00 PM today.
All proceeds for the project will be going to Refuge. An organisation providing specialist support to women and children escaping domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence within the UK. Ticket sales to an accompanying live exhibition – will be available during London Fashion Week, taking place at Christie’s London and priced at £10.
