For the majority, there has been a recurring theme of sexiness throughout fashion week. However, things are different with Massimo Giorgetti. “I’m not blindly following what others are doing. I don’t do sexy,” he declared. “This collection is frisky, yes. But sexy? No.”
The city of Milan, Giorgetti’s adopted home, has been prominently featured in MSGM collections more than once. Thus yet again, the inspiration was the ’80s, which sparked a new sense of possibility and renewal through the creative energy of its arts and cultural communities. Taking inspiration from this mood, the designer chose an upbeat, summery approach for this collection, peppered with the acidic colour palette he loves.
The notion of bare skin gives a nod to this sexy trend, but as aforementioned, Giorgetti kept the image frisky and colourful rather than sexy in his own, juxtaposed way.
