First seen during the French house’s Artisinal runway show in January, Maison Margiela has teased a closer look at its collaborative Reebok Tabi Pump Fury sneakers. A hybrid silhouette that’s a combination of two classics: the Tabi and the Instapump Fury.
The unisex footwear combines Margiela’s creative director, John Galliano avant-garde aesthetic with classic America sportswear, which, in a statement from the label “builds on Maison Margiela’s analyses of the conversation between humanity and technology in the digital age.”
Arriving in both heeled and flat high-top silhouettes, each design blends elements from Margiela’s signature Tabi design and Reebok’s Instapump Fury. The Tabi’s split-toed upper is morphed with Reebok’s pump mechanism, an inflation technology, for athletes to manually condense the fit of sneakers.
Dual-branding is featured throughout for a premium collaborative feel. Margiela’s white stitch appears on the back of the upper, while Reebok’s Vector logo is embroidered on the heel. The Tabi Pump Fury sneaker will release in four colourways, all-black or all-white, while renditions composed from yellow, black and red, or white, blue and red pay ode to trailblazing sneaker from 1994.
Maison Margiela x Reebok shoes retail at £895 for the flat and £1,125 for the heeled version.
