A creative partnership between two highly regarded forces, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele enlisted photographer Bruce Gilden to shoot an exclusive book; set in Rome and featuring the Italian labels Pre-Fall 2020 collection.
Speaking on the collaboration, Allessandro Michele says of Bruce “We share the same passion for faces and an obsession with expressions, personalities and looks. I am a great collector of portraits because the human figure is central to me. Working with a photographer means seeing through someone else’s eyes and it was wonderful to see through Bruce’s eyes.”
Participating in the range of street portraits are Italian musician Achille Lauro, Italian actress and model Benedetta Barzini, and American fashion model and advocate Bethann Hardison who act as subjects alongside the Roman public. The black and white images are often taken from up-close, utilizing a harsh flash to make the figures stand-out from their background and highlight their every feature.
