For their Spring/Summer 2022 Runway Show, Soulland took advantage of Fashion Week’s return to a physical format by embracing a more loud direction for the brand amidst the Royal Arena, Copenhagen’s biggest indoor venue.
For most people, our hearts are fond of classic fairy tales. They play on recurring themes such as good and evil, evoking memories of childhood and community, and show us the importance of storytelling. Thus, Soulland’s final instalment touches on the power of books – weaving together another tale of a water nymph and a centaur – a heartbreaking story of star-crossed lovers and a rich source of creative inspiration.
Showcased among a backdrop of black, beige, navy blue and dark brown that show off pink highlights, it provided a sense of optimism and joy whilst signature floral prints and jacquards abound in the collection – deconstructed, cut-out, and embellished with naive drawings.
The story and collection are both dominated by textures – from the crocodile print to shiny mock leather and the lustrous sheen of technical fabrics to microstructures such as seersucker, crinkle finishes, and ripstop.
It is a season of Love and Tragedy expressed whimsically through Soulland’s latest offering.
