PAUSE Her Meets: Celebrating Pride Month with @misstalulaheve

We’re celebrating Pride Month with some of our favourite people from the LGBTQIA+ community. They’ll be no IRL events to celebrate Pride this year because of Covid-19 but feel free to celebrate it the best way you know how at home. To all of you out there that feel like you can’t be your true, authentic self because of where you’re from or your upbringing, we’re thinking of you and hopefully the words below can help encourage you.

“Who you make love to, and take that ass to Red Lobster, is your human right.”

Beyoncé

Today we’re celebrating Pride with influencer, actress and model, Talulah-Eve / @misstalulaheve.

Tomi: What does Pride mean to you?

Talulah-Eve: Pride is a celebration of everything that we have achieved as a community. It means freedom!

T: What do you love most about yourself?

TE: My confidence because not a lot of people are able to have that natural confidence in them to go and just do things.

T: What have you found to be an amazing outlet for yourself?

TE: I love writing music, painting and just being creative.

T: What do you love most about modelling?

TE: It’s something different everytime, you get to be versatile and you get to be creative. I get to meet new people and travel to new places. Modelling is exciting in that sense, it’s an adventure!

T: What changes would you like to see in the modelling industry?

TE: I’d like to see more Black trans women in the modelling industry, I don’t feel that there’s a lot. I feel that the trans women who are getting representation in the industry, aren’t necessarily trans women of colour. I only know a couple including myself, that are doing well in this industry.

T: You were a contestant on Britain’s Next Top Model. Would you consider being a judge on that show or a similar one?

TE: Yes, definitely! I’d love to help people and point people in the best direction for them.

T: Who are your current role models?

TE: I kind of look at myself and use my old self as my inspiration. I look up more to the person that I’ve become, I’ve come such a long way in life. If I need any inspiration in my life, I just look at my journey and how far I’ve come as a woman.

T: If you’re life is a movie then what album or song would you choose to be the soundtrack?

TE: Christina Aguilera’s album ‘Stripped’. That was a really good album. I remember listening to that album on repeat, it helped me through a lot of my darkest days.

T: When you get a moment to PAUSE, what do you like to do for self-care?

TE: Just have a bit of zen time whether it’s meditating, yoga, chatting to my boyfriend or dancing in the mirror to music.

T: How are you going to celebrate Pride Month this year?

TE: My boyfriend and I will probably go for some nice drives and enjoy the little bit of freedom that we have. Afterall, Pride is a celebration of freedom!

T: What words of positivity would you like to share with your younger self?

TE: Don’t be scared, be brave! Don’t think about life too much, live in the moment and just enjoy it, as you only live once. Stop putting fear in yourself, just let it be and just be happy!
