We caught up with Songstress Kali Claire, to talk about her time during lockdown, what inspires her, and what we can expect from her for 2020.
How are you finding the change in routine since lockdown?
Lockdown hit me hard because I’d literally just finished supporting Mabel on her EU tour leg. So I went from travelling everyday to being stationery.
What would you recommend people do in all the ‘spare’ time they are now experiencing?
Self care, self care and more self care. I think taking a moment to stop, and actually look after your body is as productive as working from home is.
What inspires you?
Everything I do is led by the way I feel. So anything that causes me to feel an emotion has an impact on what I do next.
Has being in quarantine affected your mental health in any way? If so, what do you do to overcome those feelings?
I’m very used to being out and about and busy. I definitely feel less motivated at home. So I’ve been doing full glam to record vocals at home, just to get in the mood. Any sort of eyelash makes me feel photoshoot ready!
When you get a moment to PAUSE, what do you do for fun?
I’ve never cooked this much in my life, and I’m starting to enjoy more than just the eating part. So maybe I’ve found a new hobby.
What is your favourite ‘at home’ outfit?
Tracksuit all day everyday, anything comfy.
What is the first thing you will do when lockdown is lifted?
Probably go and find a restaurant where they serve amazing pasta. And see my friends!
What song makes you feel happiest? (Can be yours, or an artist you admire)
Right now it’s Chocolate by Kiana Ledé. The song fits so perfectly with a memory from tour so it clicked with me.
What can we expect from you for 2020?
Being on lockdown is making me more creative then ever, so I’m excited for the rest of the year. I’m always working on new songs, so you’ll probably hear some of them soon.
