COVID-19 has completely flipped our lives upside down across the globe, any sense of normalcy and routine has gone out of the window. Most of us are now at home figuring out what to do with our time. Of course if you feel like doing absolutely nothing that is fine, take the time to rest, no one should make you feel bad about that. For those of you looking for some ideas, we’ve called upon our favourite people to help share how they’ve been spending their time at home.
Today on our Staying Home series we have Entrepreneur Phoenix Brown.
Tomi: How has your schedule changed post COVID-19?
Phoenix: My schedule wasn’t that defined before COVID-19 but obviously it’s changed a lot. Going out, seeing people, regular day to day and grocery shopping has changed, everything is now lines and caution around other people. It’s been hectic!
T: What measures are you taking to look after your mind, soul and body?
P: Me and my boyfriend live together so we have started working out, designing for our brand and eating healthy. We walk the dog and go on strolls with masks.
T: How do you stay zen?
P: Alone time is very important especially when you’re in a relationship or even if you’re by yourself. Just go on and put some headphones on, listen to some music and chill. Then I might do some cooking and cleaning. Take some time to think about what I want to do now and what’s happening next, not to stress yourself out but to just go through your mind and process everything that’s been going on.
T: Are you reading any book at the moments? Which books would you recommend?
P: I don’t really read [laughs]. My mum (Spice Girl, Mel B) did come out with a book; she sent it to me so obviously I read that. It’s called ‘Brutally Honest’. I also read Michelle Obama’s book ‘Becoming’; my mum sent me that for Christmas. I’m currently working on my own book that hopefully will be out in a couple years. I prefer to do activities, like design or write to get my mind flowing.
T: Favourite artists you’re currently listening to?
P: Roddy Ricch, Travis Scott and Lil Uzi, his new album is fire. Don Toliver, Miguel is one of my favourites and PARTYNEXTDOOR just released an album.
T: What’s your favourite song on PARTYNEXTDOOR’s new album, everyone seems to love ‘Savage Anthem’?
P: The one with Rihanna, ‘Believe It’. I bang that every morning [laughs].
T: Favorite home cooked meal?
P: Right now… I cooked a pretty good fish the other day, pretty dank so I would say fish. My boyfriend cooks a really mean fettuccine alfredo. Yeah, we got some goodness in the house.
T: Favourite show to binge watch?
P: We just finished it but ‘You’ is so amazing! The ‘Tiger King’ is phenomenal, my whole family has a group chat and my entire family watched it.
T: I’m currently watching ‘Tiger King’ and every five minutes there’s something crazy.
P: It kinda sucks that the guy is in jail, he finally got the fame he wanted.
T: Post quarantine, what are the first activities you’re looking forward to doing?
P: Going outside [laughs]. Right before this all happened, I got a job offer and I’m doing a cool bit where I travel and go to different places like Ghana. It’s still under the works but hopefully when the quarantine is over, I’m hopping on a plane and doing my little tv show which is going to be dope.
